Final Field Study - November 28

Field Notes Date & Time - Monday, November 38 @ 3:12 pm Climate Conditions - Cold & a little windy  Temp - 39 Length of day - 9:20 Organisms heard & seen - I heard not much. Most of the birds, squirrels, and other animals have left. I saw the turkeys that walk around our neighborhood earlier that day. Below, is a picture I took through my window of the turkeys. They stay around for a while, I wonder when they will leave? When there was snow on the ground, we could see their tracks. Now that what snow used to be here has melted, we see their poop in our yard.  Leaf Study  The leaves have fallen at this point. There was snow last time I did my field study, but at this last time, it is gone. The only green recorded is from some of the grass, and the evergreens. The percentage of green has gone up because the grass is now visible.  Here are my pictures from north, south, east, and west, along with the grid on them. Field Study - November 13

Field Notes  Date & Time - November 13 @ 10:16 am Climate conditions - snowy  Temp - 33 ° Length of day - 9:44 Organisms heard & seen - I didn't hear or see many organisms. This is probably because the first snow has fallen, and therefore many of the living things have left this environment, or gone into a hibernation of sorts. But, this week I did see many turkeys. There is a family of turkeys that wander through our neighborhood around this time every year. They are still out and about, even after the snow! Leaf Study  Most of the leaves have fallen at this point. The first snow fell this week, and you can see that in these trees. Pretty much the only green recorded in my chart is from the evergreen trees in my yard.  Here is my grid including my pictures of north, south, east and west, along with the grid I used to measure the percentage of green in them.  As you can see, most of the green has left. October 30 Field Study

Field Notes Date & Time - October 30 @ 5:11 pm Climate Conditions - Slightly cloudy   Temperature - 61° Length of day - 10:23 Organisms heard & seen - I heard birds chirping, and crickets. I saw a few birds come from the woods to the bird feeder. There was a chipmunk that ran across the grass in front of me.  Changes from last time - The leaves have changed even more. Some of them have fallen, some of them have changed colors. Soon enough, there won’t be many leaves left at all.  Leaf Study  The leaves have obviously changed now. The percentage of green is much lower than it has been in my previous field studies. I know that the percentage of green will only continue to drop.  Here is the grid including my pictures of north, south, east, and west, with the grid I used to measure the percentage of green on them. Field Study - September 30

 Field Notes  Date & time - September 28 @ 5:06 pm Climate conditions - cloudy  Temp - 52° Length of day - 11 hours and 52 mins Organisms - I heard birds, crickets and the neighbor dogs. I saw a few birds in the woods.  Changes noticed - Not much has changed sense my last visit. Not much time has passed, and not many of the leaves have turned/changed yet. I think they will be changing soon, probably by my next visit. There were definitely less animals around at this visit, and I am not sure why.  Leaf Study  Here is a picture of north, south, east, and west with the grid on it: I use the grid to calculate how much of the photo is green for this leaf study.  This is my data table from the last 2 visits. Leaf Research - Visit 1 - September 7

Percentage of green = 89%   Percentage of green = 69% Percentage of green = 93% Percentage of green = 96% ANALYSIS - I am analyzing the percentage of green in my location. My location has a lot of green right now, because the leafs have not changed or fallen yet. The grass, bushes, and grass is all currently green. This will change soon enough, but currently there is a lot of green in my location photos of the north, south, east, and west.
